Speaking at Mobile Monday Düsseldorf

This month’s Mobile Monday Düsseldorf was all about Augmented Reality and why AR will be the future for mobile communications. More and more services are being developed to serve information at current locations and the vicinity. Layar is one of the leading platforms for Mobile Augmented Reality. I introduced the Layar platform and some of the latest usecases from all around the world.

Layar provides an open platform for third party content distribution in Mobile Augmented Reality with more than 1 Mio. users and more than 1.500 layers in development. Layers relate to data layers to choose from. There are layers to show the way to the next ATM, but also architectural usecases that show the yet not existing Rotterdam market hall that’s still under construction. In AR it’s already there – right at the specific location. There are applications in marketing, real estate and especially in the field of arts. Outside Art 3D shows dismantled public outside art in it’s original location but also in any new surroundings.

The Mobile Monday Düsseldorf was hosted by Ossi Urchs and Mark Wächter. Later I also met Markus Kucborski from Vodafone Augmented Reality Blog who shot this quick video.
